How Co-Lyf works

L-arginine is the substrate the body converts into nitric oxide, which relaxes and widens blood vessels. Better perfusion is the basis for its use wherever blood flow to a tissue matters. Proanthocyanidins are added as antioxidants protecting nitric oxide from being broken down before it acts, and zinc and folate support the same processes. This is nutritional support, taken over months. Coenzyme Q10 sits in the mitochondrial membrane and carries electrons along the chain that produces cellular energy. Heart and muscle, the most energy-hungry tissues, hold the highest concentrations. Levels fall with age and are reduced by statins, which block the same pathway the body uses to make it. Ubiquinol is the already-reduced form, absorbed better than ordinary ubiquinone. Lycopene is a carotenoid antioxidant and, unusually, it is the most potent singlet-oxygen quencher among the dietary carotenoids. It is fat-soluble, which is why it is formulated in oil. With the B vitamins, zinc and selenium alongside, it supports the enzyme systems that handle oxidative stress rather than acting alone. L-carnitine carries long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are burned for energy. Muscle and nerve tissue depend heavily on that transport, and the acetyl form additionally supports nerve fibre regeneration. It is used where fatigue and nerve symptoms occur together. Methylcobalamin is the active, ready-to-use form of vitamin B12, required to build and maintain the myelin sheath insulating nerve fibres. Where that sheath is damaged, signals leak and misfire -- the tingling, numbness and burning of neuropathy. Alpha lipoic acid is an antioxidant with reasonable trial evidence in diabetic neuropathy, and pyridoxine and folic acid support the same nerve metabolism. This supports repair rather than blocking the pain signal, so it works over weeks. Supplying them together is the point: each supports what the others are doing.
