Lymecycline is a tetracycline taken by mouth. It blocks bacterial protein synthesis and, separately, damps down the inflammatory response in the skin itself -- which is why tetracyclines help acne beyond what their antibacterial action alone would explain. It is absorbed better than older tetracyclines and is not blocked by food to the same degree.
