How Spadoz-M works

This is a combination, and each component addresses a different part of the problem. Mefenamic acid inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and also blocks prostaglandin action at the receptor. Since prostaglandins drive the uterine contractions of period pain, this makes it particularly suited to dysmenorrhoea. Drotaverine inhibits phosphodiesterase-4 within smooth muscle, which relaxes it directly. Because it acts on the muscle rather than on nerves, it eases spasmodic pain without the anticholinergic effects of older antispasmodics. Together in one tablet they cover more of what is actually causing the pain than any single agent would.
