This is a combination, and each component has a distinct role. Diclofenac inhibits cyclo-oxygenase, cutting off the prostaglandins that sensitise nerve endings and drive swelling. Dicyclomine blocks acetylcholine at the smooth muscle of the gut and relaxes the spasm that produces colicky pain.
