How Kashdi works

Kashdi combines honey with tulsi, mulethi, banapsha and vasaka -- the classical Ayurvedic group for cough. Each does something distinct. Honey and mulethi are demulcents: they coat an irritated throat and settle the tickle that keeps a dry cough going. Vasaka (Adhatoda vasica) is the best-studied of the group and has a genuine expectorant and bronchodilator action, which is why it appears in almost every traditional cough formula. Tulsi and banapsha are used for their soothing effect on the respiratory passages.
