How Doxofly-M works

This is a combination, and each component handles a different part of the problem. Doxofylline relaxes airway smooth muscle in the same broad family as theophylline, but it lacks the adenosine-blocking activity that causes much of theophylline's palpitation and stomach upset. That is why it is generally better tolerated at doses that still open the airway. Montelukast blocks leukotriene receptors. Leukotrienes are inflammatory messengers released in allergy and asthma that tighten the airway and swell the lining, and they are not affected by antihistamines at all. Blocking them covers a part of the allergic response that an antihistamine alone leaves untouched. Combining them means one preparation covers what would otherwise need two or three.
