How Molcis-MF works

This is a combination, and each component handles a different part of the problem. Mefenamic acid inhibits cyclo-oxygenase and cuts off the prostaglandins driving both pain and fever. Paired with paracetamol the two work through separate routes, which brings a high temperature down further than either does alone -- the reason this combination is reached for when paracetamol by itself has not been enough. Paracetamol resets the temperature centre in the hypothalamus back to normal and raises the pain threshold centrally. In a suspension the dose can be measured against a child's weight rather than forced into a tablet strength, which is the whole reason paediatric antipyretics are liquid.
