How Nyriz NS 7% works
At 7 per cent the osmotic pull is stronger, and this concentration is used where secretions are particularly tenacious -- most established in cystic fibrosis, where regular nebulised hypertonic saline improves sputum clearance and lung function. Because the stronger solution can provoke coughing and airway tightening, a bronchodilator is usually given beforehand and the first dose is supervised. This is a nebuliser solution, turned into a fine mist by the machine and breathed in over several minutes. No coordination is required, which is what makes nebulisation workable for infants and for a breathless patient.
