How Sorisol-25 works
Trioxsalen is a psoralen. On its own it does nothing; it becomes active only when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet A light, at which point it binds DNA in the skin cells and stimulates the pigment-producing melanocytes to repopulate white patches. Because the light exposure is what activates it, treatment is carried out under dermatological supervision.
