How Ressence works

A physical scrub removes dead surface cells mechanically rather than chemically. The particle matters: rounded beads or milled rice roll across the skin and lift debris, where jagged particles create micro-tears. Charcoal and clay draw excess oil from the surface at the same time. Physical exfoliation gives an immediate result where acids give a gradual one. Shea, mango and cocoa butters are solid at room temperature and melt at skin temperature, leaving an occlusive film that slows water loss from the surface. Shea butter also carries unsaponifiable compounds with a soothing effect. This is barrier repair by physical means -- holding in the water the skin already has, rather than adding any active.
